The better question is ‘how to keep healthy’ NOT ‘how to lose weight’ which is what I hear most of the time. Realize that your health is a lifelong decision made one day at a time. The choices that you make today will show up in the amount of energy you have tomorrow. When you choose to indulge in sugary treats and fast food today, you may enjoy it but it will reflect in your health a year from now.
You may find that you are feeling a little sluggish and that you need an afternoon nap or an extra cup of coffee. You wonder why you used to have so much more energy. Where did all your energy go?
The problem of obesity is skyrocketing as our waistlines expand year after year. Your health isn’t going to change unless you change. I know you are wondering how to keep healthy and the answer is quite simple. It starts with your decision. Make the decision today to add a new healthy habit to your lifestyle.
Here are some things to ask yourself about keeping healthy:
- What is one thing you can start doing?
- What is one thing you can stop doing?
- If you don’t change, how will you feel in one year?
The first two questions are easy for you to answer. I know they are because I know you’ve been thinking about them for a long time. It’s the third question that you may not have given any thought to. That’s the important question to answer.
Here are my thoughts:
How to keep healthy?
That’s a question I hear, but not often enough. I need to hear that question more often. The question I mostly hear is, “How do I lose weight?” or “How do I look good in my bathing suit?” That’s definitely something I help people with.
The question I want to address today is how to keep healthy. You didn’t gain the weight in one day, one week, one month. You’re not going to lose it in one day, one week, one month. When you do lose it, the important thing is not to go back to the way you were eating before. That’s what got you into feeling sluggish, unhealthy and maybe fat too.
So, the question is not just how do I lose weight. The question is how do I keep healthy once I’ve lost the weight. The fact is, you just have to make it a habit. You have to make a healthy lifestyle habit. It can’t just be something you do once and forget about. You cut the grass and it keeps on growing so you have to keep cutting it. Same with your health. You’ve got to keep on, on a daily basis, working on your health and working on your life. You have to keep working to make it the way you want it to be. I said it would be work, but it doesn’t have to be work. It’s fun! Enjoy it! Enjoy your life! Live a life worth talking about. That’s what I’m all about.
I realize that you may need to focus on your weight right now and once you do lose weight, keep healthy one day at a time by continuing to make healthy choices. Don’t go back to the old habits. Embrace your new healthy habits. Your life depends on it.
